The Great Canadian Dog Food :: Country Cat

The Great Canadian Dog Food Company is a division of Spectrum Feed Services Ltd., Moorefield, Ontario.

The original operation was based around a feed mill in Moorefield that had been closed for several years. Through the summer and the fall of 1990 the feed mill was totally renovated and refurbished to exceed current standards.

The mill has undergone continual upgrading with the most significant being the introduction of computerized batching in 2003 and the installation of the new dedicated mixing and shipping line for making pet food meal mixes in 2004. Several warehouse expansions have paralleled the growth.

The business currently operates with 35 full time employees.

In June of 1996 Spectrum Food Recovery was founded as a separate company to blend and process high nutrient dense ingredients that could be used in the feed mill. As a part of the expansion of this sector an extruder was acquired to be able to cook and sterilize grain ingredients for further processing Part of this strategy included the ability to manufacture dog and cat food products.

Spectrum Feed Services Ltd has made a significant commitment to expanding into the manufacturing of pet food. In the spring of 2004 professional sales people were hired to address the several different segments of the dog and cat food industry. This has translated into immediate short term growth.

Many of the new concepts and manufacturing practices implemented by Spectrum Feed Services allows them to have production and distribution advantages over its competitors.
